Neck Pain, Neck Ache, Headache, Headaches, Migraine, Migraines, Neck Injury, Neck Trauma, TMJ, Neck Alignment, text neck, texting A migraine attack can knock a person out for days, and if you’re one of those people then you, unfortunately, know this all too well.  Migraines are one of the most common neurological conditions, affecting approximately 38 million people across the US.  Though women are more likely to experience migraines, they don’t discriminate – men and even children suffer as well.  Despite the prevalence of migraines, the truth is that they remain poorly understood.  This leads to improper diagnoses, as well as limited treatment options.

Looking for Natural, Lasting Relief?

Because of the chronic nature of migraines, people are seeking out more natural treatment options.  Medications, either over-the-counter or prescribed, are not an appealing option for many migraine sufferers because of potential side effects of long-term use.  Many of those people ultimately find their way to our practice for that reason.  At Scenic City Clinic of Chiropractic, we specialize in identifying the root cause of migraines, and not simply treating the symptoms.  As Atlas Orthogonal practitioners, we are able to deliver effective, gentle care to correct specific atlas misalignments.  The atlas, the topmost vertebra in the spine, can easily misalign, creating postural imbalance and stress on the nervous system.  This can lead to an abnormal blood flow and nervous system function, major contributors in migraine cases.

Can Upper Cervical Chiropractic help me?

In a review of 101 chronic headache sufferers undergoing upper cervical chiropractic care, the results look very promising.  All 101 people who participated in the study were found to have a specific atlas misalignment.  Interestingly, 87 recalled at least one traumatic event, such as a fall or car accident, that preceded the onset of their condition and may have been the original cause of their atlas misalignment.  After a course of upper cervical care, 85 of the 101 patients’ headaches completely disappeared, and an additional 12 reported a significant reduction.  This is great news for anyone who is looking for a solution that is more than just temporary.

Regardless of whether you can recall a specific injury to the head or neck, if you are experiencing migraines or other chronic headaches, having your atlas alignment checked is a priority.  Contact us today to get started on your road to recovery.
