If you’ve ever felt a mind numbing pain in your head that lasted for anywhere from four to 72 hours, then you know what a migraine headache feels like. That’s a neurological disorder that isn’t resolved with medication, and there’s a good chance you’ve tried all of them you can find.

Of course, there is also a good chance that you’ve sought relief through seeking out more than one doctor to tell you what is causing that pain in your head. If we’re on the right track, then there’s also a good chance they just keep telling you to take another type of medication.

By now, we’re sure you can see how the cycle continues. Get a migraines headache, take a painkiller, find temporary relief, get another headache, and repeat the process. The only thing more repetitive is washing your hair.

Now, there are migraines with and without aura. Those people who experience aura before their headaches, which are symptoms that precede the head pain, they have a slightly painful advantage. Let’s first look at what defines these neurological disorders.

Migraines with Aura

  •       Migraine headaches that begin with early warning signs
  •       They account for 20% of migraines
  •       Symptoms may continue after the headache
  •       These early warning signs (prodrome) may last from 5 to 20 minutes
  •       Symptoms begin 30 minutes or less before the headache

Popping Pills Isn’t the Solution

Whether you experience aura or not before your actual head, you definitely want to find relief for your pain. Well, we’ll talk more about these types of migraines and what you can do to find relief from them next time.

Until then, no matter what type of migraine you’re suffering from, you will never find a solution in a bottle of pills. They may offer temporary relief, but they will not get to the source of your pain.

For that, you will need to seek the care of an upper cervical chiropractor. The source of your pain may be as simple as a misalignment in your upper neck vertebrae, which restricts your brain’s ability to communicate with your body via the brainstem. A misalignment of those two vertebrae of only ¼ of a millimeter can lead to all sorts of problems, but an upper cervical chiropractor can begin to reverse the effects of misalignments by making a precise and gentle correction.
