Migraine sufferers also spend a lot more on their health care than their migraine-free counterparts.  Those with migraines take 2.5 times a number of prescription medications and undergo 6 times as many diagnostic procedures and services.  That’s a big deal, especially considering that traditional approaches never seek to address the root cause of the condition.

As more research emerges about migraines, we begin to understand that migraines are a complex neurological event that makes up the combination of symptoms – the severe pain, nausea, and vision changes, to name a few.  Changes that occur in the brainstem that affect nerves that carry pain signals to and from the brain may play a role in migraines.  Because of that fact, our efforts here at Scenic City Clinic of Chiropractic are directed at ensuring that brainstem function is occurring without obstruction.  The topmost vertebra in the neck, the atlas, can shift off position as a result of an injury, accident, or daily wear and tear.  When that happens, it puts pressure on the brainstem, which can be the underlying cause of migraines as well as other headache types.  Relieving that pressure restores normal brainstem function, and will allow those brain-body signals to be sent and received properly.  Upper cervical chiropractic has had great success with helping people find natural, lasting, long-awaited relief from migraines.
