Fibromyalgia, Fatigue, Chronic Fatigue, Always Tired, Tired, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, CFSChronic fatigue syndrome is a complex disorder and as such is not completely understood in the medical realm.  People who suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome have fatigue that is so overwhelming it often prevents them from doing even the most basic of daily tasks.  The worst part is that this fatigue is not relieved by getting rest and is often made worse with physical activity or mental exertion.  Chronic fatigue syndrome can also consist of memory problems, muscle pain, headaches, and depression.

There are many theories as to the origin of chronic fatigue syndrome, including viral infection, allergies, immune system issues, and nutritional deficiencies.  If you’re experiencing chronic fatigue syndrome, it’s likely there’s an issue within the central nervous system.

The central nervous system consists of your brain and spinal cord and is so critical to our existence that it is completely encased in bone to protect it.  Either through injury, accident, or just poor lifestyle, vertebrae in your spine may shift out of alignment, putting pressure on nerves, blood vessels, and other surrounding tissues.  The top bone in your neck, the atlas, is especially prone to misalignment and can have devastating effects on a person’s overall health and wellbeing.

At Scenic City Clinic of Chiropractic, we have found that gently realigning the atlas has brought relief to many people suffering from symptoms of chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.  This is because we are removing the pressure from the spinal cord that occurs when the atlas shifts into an abnormal position.  When there is pressure on the spinal cord and brainstem, the messages that travel to and from the brain are not able to be processed correctly, and this is one of the hallmarks of chronic fatigue syndrome as well as fibromyalgia.  Additionally, upper cervical chiropractic can provide relief as well as many other health benefits without the need for medications, surgery, and side effects.
