Pregnant, Pregnancy, Expectant Mother, Prenatal CareWhat an exhilarating time pregnancy can be! With such a precious bundle in tow, it is no wonder that you want to take the best care of your body during this special time. Proper prenatal care can bring real benefits to you and your baby, plus it can aid during birth. When you know you have done all you can during your pregnancy, it brings a sense of relief and can ease anxiety. What are some important things to focus on for the next several months?

  • Nutrition. Maintaining proper nutrition is always important to one’s well-being, but it is especially true when pregnant. Knowledge is key. Familiarize yourself with foods that should be avoided as well as what will help nourish you and your baby. Before eating fruits or vegetables, make sure to wash them thoroughly. Always be careful when handling raw meat, and take steps to avoid food poisoning.
  • Hygiene. In the case of proper hygiene, washing your hands is one of the best ways to avoid infection and illness. This practice is important before and after cooking or eating, after contact with someone, after cleaning, and after being in a public area (just to name a few). Some things to avoid include using potting soil, which contains chemicals, and changing a litter box. It is actually recommended never to change a cat’s litter box while pregnant.
  • Spinal Care. A lot of physical changes are happening during pregnancy. As the baby grows, room is made and organs are shifted to allow for more space. Should the spine be out of alignment, it could potentially create issues down the line. At the very least, a spine that is in proper alignment aids in keeping the birth canal open during delivery.

Upper Cervical Care Provides Pregnancy Help

The alignment of the uppermost vertebrae in the spine is crucial to overall health and the functioning of the brainstem. Upper cervical chiropractic care can ensure that there is no misalignment. This too can affect the birth and even long term health. Make sure to add upper cervical care to your program for a happy and healthy birth.
