It is unfortunate, but sometimes babies do have spinal misalignments that occur during the process of childbirth. This can cause parents to feel some anxiety about the child’s health. We want to assure you that there is no need to be overly concerned. However, by being aware of some signs to look for, a parent can help an infant to have a healthy spine from youth up.

Important Clues to Watch for that Indicate Birth Injury Has Occurred

If parents are wondering whether or not to bring their baby to see an upper cervical chiropractor, here are a few signs indicating it is a good idea. These include:

  • Constipation
  • GERD
  • Colic
  • Acid Reflux
  • Other digestive problems
  • Ear infections – due to improper drainage of fluid

If a baby is not showing any of these signs, he or she may still be suffering. It is good also to keep an eye out for some other important signs.

  • Does he always turn his head to one side?
  • Is the muscle structure of the lower back – near the pelvis – evenly aligned?
  • Is one side of the hip area higher than the other?
  • Does he always lie on his back?

How Upper Cervical Chiropractic Helps

It is very hard for parents by themselves to determine if there is a problem or not. If you are concerned a misalignment may exist, a trip to visit an upper cervical chiropractor is a good idea. Here at Scenic City Clinic of Chiropractic, we use a very gentle method to examine the baby as well as to adjust any problem that we may find. We never pop or crack the spine whether we are dealing with babies or adults. Rather, the method used allows the bones to move back into alignment naturally. A child should feel no discomfort what-so-ever. Adjustments are only given when necessary. This is often all that is needed to help a baby feel happier and healthier overall.
